Perhaps the best approach is just to cross your fingers and hope for the best. After all, isn’t your birth experience primarily just a question of luck???
So here’s the thing…
At BirthSense we have supported well over a thousand women and their partners in the last 10 years through pregnancy, birth and beyond and, in our experience, a little bit of preparation can go a very long way. We know that when women arm themselves with the right skills, the right knowledge and the right support, they can dramatically improve their chances of having a positive experience. You might just be surprised to learn how much you can do to change your luck!
Birth is both a physiological and a neurological event so it’s important to understand how mind and body can work in harmony to help you have a calmer, more straightforward birth without the need for unnecessary intervention. Our birth preparation courses offer a holistic approach to antenatal education which will equip you with the tools you need to give yourself the best possible chance of getting the birth you are hoping for,
Essentially, it’s a collection of techniques which you can use, firstly, to reduce or eliminate fear of giving birth and, secondly, to help you achieve a deep, focused state of physical and mental relaxation during your birth. Why would you want to do this? Well, there is strong evidence that the more anxious and fearful you are of giving birth, the longer, more painful and more difficult birth becomes and the greater the likelihood that you will need medical help in order to birth your baby safely. Fear causes muscle tension which increases pain during labour and makes the job of the uterus harder. It also causes you to produce adrenalin which inhibits the production of good birth hormones and can really slow things down. There is a little more to it than just that but you will learn all about the neuroscience behind hypnobirthing when you sign up to one of our courses.
Of course, there is more to a positive birth than just learning how to relax which is why we have included tons of other really important stuff to offer you a complete, one-stop birth preparation course.
