Hypnotherapies
BirthSense can help with hypnotherapy and practical information for a wide range of general and pregnancy-related issues, including:
Morning sickness
Morning sickness can strike at any time of day and can take the edge off the excitement of pregnancy. Not much is known about what causes it, but some experts suggest that it could be down to the effects of the stress hormone, Cortisol, and the way it reacts with the pregnancy hormone hCG. Other theories suggest that nutrition plays a part and that increasing levels of protein and carboydrate can help.
Hypnotherapy is known to be effective against nausea, and so BirthSense offers hypnotherapy to tackle morning sickness from all angles, helping to ease the feelings of nausea, reduce stress hormones and help you make better nutritional choices.

SPD / PGP
During pregnancy, your body releases a hormone called relaxin which softens the ligaments in your pelvic area. Normally this is good news, as it makes for an easier passage when it comes to birthing your baby. However in some cases this can cause SPD or PGP, which can be a result of your body releasing too much relaxin too soo, or by the pelvis moving unevenly, leading to pain and inflammation. The hypnotherapy given aims to help you regulate this hormone, and to give you pain relief techniques to help ease the discomfort.
Breech presentation
Hypnotherapy is a safe and totally comfortable method to turn breech babies, and has a fantastic success rate of 81% (compared to 54% for the manual turn given in hospitals). It works by focussing deep relaxation on the lower utering muscles, which helps the baby to make the natural turn providing there is no medical reason for the breech presentation.
In 1994, a trial by Mehl, V et al entitled "Hypnosis and the conversion of the breech to the vertex presentation" stated:
"RESULTS: 81% of the fetuses in the intervention gropu converted to vertex presentation compared with 48% of those in the comparison group. This difference was statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: Motivated subjects can be influenced by a skilled hypnotherapist in such a manner that their fetuses have a higher incidence of conversion from breech to vertex presentation. Psychophysiological factors my influence the breech presentation and may explain this increased frequency of conversion to vertex presentation"
